This simple action in fact holds a more than what seems to be just superficial significance. Again, this is a habit that needs to be ingrained from young, but what is the purpose?
Greeting is an act of giving another person significance in the view of the person giving the greeting, as it is worth the time to actually say “Hello” to the other party.
From a personal relations perspective, this simple habit actually helps to improve the EQ of the person giving the greeting. Just the very fact of starting a simple conversation via a form of greeting will have the positive effect other people will feel about you, and the chance for continued conversation furthers improve the PR skills.
If we distil EQ to its core, it is basically making other person feel more comfortable, by communicating, whether verbal or non-verbal, in a way the other person prefers. And good greeting manners can never go wrong in such a situation. Hence cultivating this habit of greeting others, from elders to friends, will in fact go a long way in a person’s life.
Greeting the teachers and parents is a simple but sure sign of respect for the elders. If the child does not
At Mrs Sam’s, all our students are taught to say “Hi” to their friends, and greet the teachers and parents as well.
This is part of our holistic education to instil the basic discipline and respect every individual should have as they grow up in our modern society. It is a good to start this habit early, as some kids are shy and it is never too early for them to start having friends!
But not to worry, over time, all our kids come to enjoy this as they make many more new friends in the process!
